Practice Areas: Business and employment law, bankruptcy and workouts, commercial litigation, civil litigation, family law

Among litigators, Jack Gannon is known as one of the best, but he is wary of lawyers who spend every day in court.

“Good lawyers listen to issues from both sides to see if there is an opportunity to compromise,” he explains. “You have to consider the client’s economic situation: Why have them spend time and money on litigation if they can save a large part of the expense by resolving the issue out of court?”

In addition to representing companies in shareholder/member disputes and contract, collection and other business-related litigation, Jack assists companies with business formation and the negotiation and drafting of contracts, purchase orders and other business documents. He also helps employers negotiate and draft employment contracts, employment and personnel policies, and other employment documents. He has represented employers before federal and state courts and administrative agencies in connection with employment-related claims, including claims for wrongful discharge, discrimination and unemployment compensation benefits. Jack is licensed to practice before the Michigan Unemployment Agency as an “Employer Representative” under its Advocacy Program.

On the bankruptcy/commercial side, Jack represents secured and unsecured creditors, debtors and trustees in bankruptcy proceedings and assists companies in out-of-court restructuring and liquidations. He also represents clients in commercial litigation in state and federal courts.

Jack is known throughout the region for his expertise and generosity. He volunteers his time and legal services to a variety of tri-county nonprofit organizations and frequently lectures on business, employment and commercial topics. He is known at Lambert Leser and throughout the court system as a very sincere and committed individual.

“Jack has an uncanny ability to convince judges and juries to see his way of thinking,” explains partner Winnifred Boylan. “People believe him … as they should. He is genuine. That’s what makes him one of the premiere litigators in the state.”
