“Let reverence for the laws, be breathed by every American mother,… let it be taught in schools, in seminaries and in colleges,….. let it be preached from the pulpit, proclaimed in legislative halls and enforced in courts of justice.” - Abraham Lincoln

Dawn Klida’s favorite historical figure is Abraham Lincoln.  From a young age, she aspired to be that kind of person, to learn as much about him as she could. She has continued to be inspired by his words and the life he led.  Encouraged by her parents, she learned early on that honesty, integrity, and reputation would be the keys to any of life’s successes.  The practice of law was always a dream for Dawn and one she would work toward and finally achieve as her “second” career.

Dawn believes that her responsibility to her clients is “to first and foremost get them through what is often the most traumatic time of their life with as little additional trauma as possible.  It is my goal that at the end of the case, they feel stronger and more empowered.  It will help them to achieve closure and face the future with a stronger and more positive attitude.”  To that end, she is a straight-talker who keeps her clients involved in their case and working with her to achieve the best result for them.

Dawn has a broad general practice.  In the Family Law arena, divorce, child custody, and parenting time issues require a commitment to do what is in the best interest of the children.  That oftentimes means telling a client something they do not want to hear.  “The key is to approach these issues with compassion and empathy, while at the same time staying strong and speaking honestly to your client.  Sometimes you have to remind your clients that the result they desire is driven more by pain and anger than what is ultimately in their child’s or their best interest.”  Dawn’s practice also includes issues presented in the Probate Court - everything from guardianships and step-parent adoptions to the probating of an estate.

Dawn also believes in community involvement.  She is currently a Bay County Commissioner for the 4th District, active in her church, and an advocate for Veterans.  Dawn credits her husband, daughters, and strong family unit for her accomplishments.  “I would not be who I am or where I am today without the love and support of my family.  They have always seen ‘more’ in me and it has made me work harder to achieve.”
